★ 유학생 휴학 신청에 대한 주요 안내 사항

★ IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

1. 출입국관리법 제 17조 1항에 따라, 유학(D-2) 비자로 입국한 외국인 학생은 휴학 신청을 하면 비자가 취소되므로, 휴학 개시일부터 14일 이내에 출국하거나 체류자격을 변경해야 합니다.

2. 출입국관리사무소는 비자 만료 대상자에게 출국요구서를 보내며, 휴학을 신청한 유학생에게는 대체로 14일에서 1개월 정도 시간을 줍니다. 출입국관리사무소가 보낸 출국요구서의 우편 발송이 지연되어 제때 받지 못하는 경우가 있기 때문에, 휴학한 유학생은 휴학개시일부터 14일 이내에 출국할 것을 권유합니다.

3. 외국인 학생은 휴학 신청 시, 출국을 증빙할 수 있는 항공권 등을 첨부하여 함께 제출하여야 합니다. 

4. 휴학 후 정해진 기간 내 출국하지 않을 경우 불법체류로 인한 구금, 벌금, 추방 등의 불이익을 감수해야 합니다.

1. According to the Clause 1 of Article 17of the Immigration Control Act, if international students with a D-2 (study abroad) visa request a leave of absence, their visas will be cancelled and they will have to leave Korea within 14 days after the leave of absence begins or change their qualifications for length of stay.

2. The Immigration Office sends individuals a request to leave the country and usually gives them from 14 days to one month to depart Korea when applying for a leave of absence. We recommend leaving Korea within 14 days after the leave of absence begins in case the international student does not receive the request from the Immigration Office due to delivery delays.

3. When applying for a leave of absence, international students must submit a copy of air ticket or itinerary in order to verify their departure.

4. If not leaving the country within 14 days after a leave of absence, the student is entirely responsible for any consequences from violating the Immigration Control Act, such as imprisonment, monetary penalty, deportation, etc.
